Ingredients and spices that need to be Make ready to make Shish taouk:

  1. For chicken marination:
  2. 2 chicken breast cut into cubes
  3. 3 tsp tikka masala
  4. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  5. 1 tsp black pepper powder
  6. to taste Salt
  7. 1/2 cup Hung yogurt
  8. 1/2 cup fresh cream
  9. 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  10. 4 tbsp lemon juice
  11. Stir fried vegetables:
  12. 2-3 medium boiled potatoes cut into cubes
  13. 2-3 capsicum cut into cubes
  14. 4-5 medium tomatoes cut into cubes
  15. 4-5 onions cut into cubes
  16. 1 cup cabbage cut into cubes
  17. 4-5 bullet green chillies
  18. to taste Salt
  19. 1 tsp oregano crushed
  20. 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  21. 1/2 tsp red chilli flakes
  22. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  23. 4-5 tbsp oil
  24. For frying chicken:
  25. Oil to shallow fry
  26. Soaked skewers
  27. 1 small piece of coal
  28. 1 tsp ghee

Instructions to make to make Shish taouk

  1. In a big mixing bowl add chicken and all the ingredients for marination and mix well. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or keep overnight.
  2. Now in a non stick wok or pan, heat about 1/2 or 3/4 cup oil and meanwhile set the chicken chunks onto the skewers.
  3. Shallow fry the chicken on medium high flame for about 2-3 mins each side.
  4. Meanwhile in another wok or pan add 4 tbsp oil and add all the vegetables cut into big cubes. Add all the spices for vegetables and fry on medium high flame.
  5. Now heat the coal and place all the cooked chicken skewers on the vegetables.
  6. Place a small piece of aluminium foil and place the coal on it. Add ghee on the coal and cover the lid of the wok for about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Serve the vegetables and chicken skewers with simple boiled rice.
